Asian stocks showed mixed performance on Monday, reported Associated Press

Hong Kong, March 04, 2024, According to the Associated Press, Asian stocks exhibited mixed performance on Monday. Japan's Nikkei 225 initially rose to 40,314.64 but experienced a slight retreat. Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined by 0.2% to 16,558.00, while the Shanghai Composite index increased by 0.2% to 3,033.63. Seoul's Kospi surged by 1.2% to 2,672.94, showcasing a strong performance. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 saw a marginal decrease of 0.1% at 7,598.00, and Bangkok's SET edged 0.1% lower.

In commodities trading, the US benchmark crude oil experienced a modest decline of 2 cents, reaching $79.95 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Meanwhile, Brent crude, the international standard, gained 11 cents, reaching $83.66 per barrel.

In currency markets, the US dollar strengthened against the Japanese yen, rising to 150.16 from 150.08 yen. The euro also slightly increased, reaching $1.0845 from $1.0841. Overall, the market movements reflected a varied picture across the Asian financial landscape.
