Aston Martin collaborates with J.Laverack to create exceptional road bicycle

Aston Martin and the leading British titanium bicycle manufacturer, J.Laverack, have joined forces to create an unparalleled road bicycle known as the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R.

Designed with the input of high-performance automotive experts, the .1R represents the epitome of bespoke, advanced, and meticulously engineered bicycles, boasting numerous groundbreaking features.

Incorporating the shared values of both prestigious British brands, Aston Martin and J.Laverack have applied innovative design and engineering techniques to produce a fully integrated bicycle with a "visually boltless" design, setting new standards for aesthetic purity and attention to detail.

The J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R achieves its remarkable design through the fusion of parametrically designed, 3D-printed titanium lugs and sculpted carbon fiber tubes. This combination ensures a frame that not only delivers an exceptional blend of responsiveness and comfort but also sets new standards for elegance and beauty in the world of cycling. The seamless integration of the lugs and tubes represents a true innovation, with the immaculate herringbone weave of the carbon fiber, despite its intricate manufacturing process.

Oliver Laverack, Co-founder of J.Laverack Bicycles, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration with Aston Martin, stating that it has unlocked new ideas and innovations, resulting in a bicycle more advanced than anything currently available in the market. The partnership has not only elevated their titanium bicycles to new heights but has also introduced genuine innovation to the cycling industry, creating a bicycle that combines craftsmanship and performance engineering to an unparalleled degree.

The J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R features clean lines where one would typically expect to find visible fixings, such as at the stem or seat post. The integrated four-piston brake calipers are a clean-sheet design, necessitating the development of custom testing equipment, resulting in a bicycle free of exposed cables or hoses.

The .1R incorporates innovations from the high-performance automotive world, adopting design expertise from Aston Martin's supercar and hypercar programs, and infusing the pinnacle of road bicycle engineering.

According to Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin, the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R can be considered a "titanium hypercar on two wheels." The fusion of engineering advancements and performance design results in a viscerally exhilarating riding experience, a distinctive form born from tradition and technology, crafted using the most advanced materials, befitting the legacies of both iconic British companies.

Each owner will have the opportunity to visit Aston Martin's headquarters in Gaydon for a full fitting session with the founders of J.Laverack, offering limitless customization options to make their .1R uniquely personal. Customers can choose from the same color palettes and trim options available on Aston Martin's cars, allowing them to match their car and bike if desired.

Additionally, a digital configurator on Aston Martin's website allows customers to specify their ideal .1R, including the color of the tubes, lugs, forks, stem, seat post, and handlebar drops. The carbon fiber can also be left bare to showcase its natural beauty, with accents like the bottom bracket cups, brake calipers, and brake disc centers available in bronze or black ceramic coating.

Upon delivery, each custom J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R is numbered, linking the bike and its components to create a cohesive whole. The bicycle comes with its own case, available in aluminum or carbon, serving as both a travel solution and a display stand for the .1R. The travel case includes a matching track pump with Alcantara or leather-covered handles, securely housed inside the protective cases.

The J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R is not just a bike for display; it has been purposefully designed with a focus on performance and the riding experience. For instance, the integrated brakes aren't just visually appealing, but they also use four pistons for enhanced progression and lever feel. The frame combines Ti 6Al/4V titanium for its lively ride qualities with carbon fiber for stiffness, providing responsiveness that thrives on rough cobbles and challenging climbs.

The .1R offers unparalleled customization to its owner, with features like 3D-printed titanium stems and the ability to specify crank length down to fractions of a millimeter. The bespoke saddle height adjustment system includes unique titanium collars, and each bike is supplied with a set of tools in a handcrafted wooden case.

The .1R's metal badges, concealed under the lacquer, are engineering marvels, measuring just 40 microns thin and employing a process akin to the one used on the Aston Martin Valkyrie's badge. The bike's design elements even draw inspiration from the hypercar, such as the titanium piston caps mirroring the car's wheel design.

Customers can choose from three 12-speed groupsets used by professionals in the UCI World Tour, including Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, Campagnolo Super Record Wireless, or SRAM RED eTap AXS. The .1R's bespoke chainrings are machined from aluminum, with sizes tailored to each owner's preferences.

The AERA Components Æ|55 wheels, exclusive to the .1R, feature 55mm deep carbon tubeless rims with a 22mm internal width, laced with 28 Sapim CX-Ray spokes. These wheels offer a perfect balance of speed and comfort, complementing the bike's overall design.

The saddle, from British company Brooks, can be customized with a choice of leather or Alcantara, and the same material options are available for the handlebar grips, with a full range of Aston Martin colors to choose from.

Blending innovation with tradition, the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R is a masterpiece of design and functionality. Handcrafted in the UK, it represents a true collaboration between two industry leaders. The .1R is a testament to the legacy of both companies, as Aston Martin's founders, Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, shared a passion for cycling in their early days. The J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R, the most bespoke, advanced, and meticulously engineered bike in the world, is a testament to their shared vision.

The J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R will make its debut at Rouleur Live in London on November 2. This event, celebrating cycling culture, will take place at Truman Brewery in London from November 2 to November 4, offering enthusiasts the chance to witness this extraordinary bicycle up close.
