Riyadh, January 29, 2025 – The Arab Energy Fund (TAEF) marked a significant milestone in its history with the unveiling of its new brand identity, aligning with global developments in the energy sector as the fund celebrates its 50th anniversary. The event, held in Riyadh, was graced by the presence of high-profile dignitaries, including Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, alongside energy ministers from various oil-exporting countries that are members of the fund and its board. This rebranding signals TAEF’s evolving vision, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing energy security, sustainability, and advancing the energy transformation efforts across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The unveiling of the new brand identity is part of a strategic shift that aims to position TAEF as a leading multilateral financial institution in the energy sector. The rebranding reflects the fund’s ambition to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy in the region, particularly by focusing on pioneering investments that contribute to the transformation of the energy landscape. The event was not only a celebration of the fund’s past achievements but also a bold statement of its future aspirations in light of evolving global energy dynamics.

In his speech at the event, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman praised TAEF's adaptability and responsiveness, particularly in light of the recent decision by the member states of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) to restructure the organization. This restructuring includes redrafting the founding agreement of the Arab Energy Organization, which will enhance its operational framework and better serve the energy goals of member states. The minister emphasized that the fund’s future initiatives will be guided by the energy transformation targets set by the Arab member states, ensuring that the most appropriate energy mix is adopted and addressing the challenges facing the sector. This approach is aimed at supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals for the region.

The newly introduced logo was a central element of the rebranding and carries significant symbolic meaning. Designed to reflect unity, cohesion, and limitless potential, the logo features rotating blades representing the ten member countries of TAEF, highlighting the collaborative nature of the organization. The circular design of the logo further symbolizes TAEF’s commitment to promoting a circular economy, a key focus of its future energy projects. This visual identity aligns perfectly with TAEF’s mission and ambitious vision to continue making impactful investments that drive a sustainable, stable, and prosperous future for the energy sector in the MENA region.

The event also commemorated the 50th anniversary of the fund, which was originally founded as APICORP (Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation). This milestone celebration not only underscored TAEF's rich legacy but also set the stage for its continued evolution as a central player in the energy landscape. The fund’s longevity and success in driving meaningful energy investments have cemented its role in supporting the economic and energy security needs of the Arab world.

In addition to the brand unveiling, the event celebrated another significant achievement – the graduation of the first cohort from TAEF’s inaugural 50+ Graduate Development Program. Launched in 2024, this six-month initiative aims to equip recent graduates from the MENA region with hands-on experience in energy finance, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the sector. This program is part of TAEF’s ongoing commitment to developing local talent and fostering a sustainable energy workforce for the future.

The ceremony attracted a host of distinguished guests, including energy ministers from the UAE, Kuwait, Libya, Qatar, Bahrain, and Iraq, as well as members of the diplomatic community, industry leaders, and key partners. The participation of such high-level officials underscored the importance of the event and the collective determination of regional stakeholders to shape a more sustainable and secure energy future for the MENA region.

As TAEF enters its next chapter, the fund’s rebranding and renewed focus on energy transformation signal its readiness to lead the charge in addressing the region’s evolving energy challenges. With its new identity, TAEF is poised to strengthen its role in shaping a sustainable energy future, fostering innovation, and driving economic growth in the MENA region and beyond.
