At the Shaqra Pepper Festival, almost 70,000 people attended; experts talk about the role the processing industries play in raising the added value of peppers.

The Shaqra Pepper Festival, hosted by the National Company for Agricultural Services, is in its fourth year and has drawn more than 70,000 people. In order to guarantee food security, enhance connected industrial firms, expand the amount of pepper grown and produced in Shaqra, and raise the share of the agricultural sector in the national GDP, specialized workshops were held. Workshops addressed various subjects like roles of Saudi pepper market, conditions for its growth and soil readiness, fertilizer usage, acid adjustment, processing plants, sustainable growth, comprehensive pesticides management, watering processes, collection and pepper fruits handling prior to marketing.


On August 6, 2024, Shaqra. In its fourth year of operation since its founding on July 28, the National Company for Agricultural Services, in association with other government organizations, has organized the Shaqra Pepper Festival, which has attracted more than seventy thousand spectators.Experts in the field of agriculture took part in focused workshops whose goals included raising the governorate's output and cultivation of peppers, supporting and enhancing associated industrial firms, guaranteeing the country's food security, and raising the agricultural sector's share of GDP.Several important subjects were covered at the workshop "Strategies for Preparing the Land for Pepper Cultivation in Shaqra". It covered a wide spectrum of topics, such as the Saudi market and the importance of pepper, the optimum environment conditions for growing peppers, and the process of soil preparation and analysis. Others include quality testing, evaluation, and methods of soil improvement before planting, like adding fertilizers and acidity adjustment. In another session entitled "Manufacturing Businesses and Their Role in Enhancing the Added Value of the Pepper Plant," the participants discussed the various types of businesses that process pepper and the significance of pepper to the sustainable development process. Under the threat of climate change, the workshop entitled "Proper Agricultural Methods for Pepper Crop in Shaqra from Planting to Harvest" dealt with the best agricultural practices to promote the yield both in terms of quality and quantity. This part covers integrated pest management, fertilization of pepper crops, harvesting, irrigation systems and water use, sufficient soil preparation for seedling sowing, and preparation of pepper crops for sale, among others.
