Atlético de Madrid's Stadium Renamed Riyadh Air Metropolitano Following Agreement

Madrid, October 9, 2024 - Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia's new flagship carrier, announced today through a press release that it has entered into a significant nine-year strategic partnership with the Spanish football club Atlético de Madrid. As part of this agreement, the renowned Metropolitano Stadium, home of Atlético de Madrid, will be renamed "Riyadh Air Metropolitano." This landmark deal is set to run through 2033, marking a pivotal chapter in the collaboration between the two entities.

The unveiling of the stadium's new name is scheduled to take place on October 20, during an anticipated home match. Thousands of passionate fans will witness the renaming, with the Riyadh Air logo prominently displayed across the stadium’s facades. This rebranding marks a deepening of the relationship between Riyadh Air and Atlético de Madrid, which began on August 10, 2023, when the airline became the official sponsor of the club. Throughout the first year of the sponsorship, the Riyadh Air logo appeared on the front of the men’s first team kits, visible in both domestic and international competitions.

This latest agreement cements Riyadh Air's role as the most prominent sponsor in Atlético de Madrid’s history, according to the release. The partnership is grounded in a mutual vision that transcends traditional sports sponsorships, focusing on key values such as innovation, excellence, and sustainability. These principles are set to guide both organizations towards shared growth and future success.

Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas expressed his pride in the partnership, stating, "It is an honor to become the naming partner for the Riyadh Air Metropolitano and extend our partnership with Atlético de Madrid until 2033. Both organizations are driven to succeed at the highest level, and having our name on such an iconic stadium will elevate the awareness of Riyadh Air across the sporting world and beyond."

Similarly, Atlético de Madrid CEO Miguel Ángel Gil emphasized the significance of the agreement, expressing the club’s pride and excitement over the renaming of their stadium. The collaboration, he added, represents a new chapter in the club’s illustrious history.
