Riyadh, August 19, 2024 — The new academic year 1446 AH has officially commenced, with more than 6.7 million students beginning their studies across over 31,000 schools throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This marks the start of a new academic term under the vigilant oversight of the Ministry of Education, which has been working diligently to ensure a smooth and effective beginning to the school year.

The Ministry of Education is committed to fostering a stimulating and supportive educational environment. To achieve this, it has implemented several initiatives designed to enhance the overall educational experience for students. One of the key strategies includes activating psychological preparation programs within education departments. These programs are tailored to create a harmonious school environment that addresses the psychological, social, and educational needs of students as they transition to new grade levels. This support is aimed at easing the adjustment process and promoting a positive start to the year.

Additionally, the ministry has launched various awareness initiatives focused on core values, as well as programs that encourage volunteering and scouting among students. These initiatives are designed to foster a sense of community and personal growth, enriching the educational experience beyond the classroom.

For educators, the ministry has introduced the Hayyak program, which serves as an orientation and support tool for teachers contracted to join schools this year. This program is intended to address the diverse needs of new teachers and equip them with the skills necessary to excel in their roles. The ministry has already secured contracts with over 12,000 teachers across various specialties to meet the demands of different educational settings. In addition to these new hires, more than 500,000 returning teachers are resuming their roles in schools across the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Education has also strengthened its partnerships with various government and private sector entities to ensure the smooth operation of the educational processes throughout the academic year. This integrated approach aims to support the successful implementation of educational programs and initiatives.

Furthermore, the ministry has increased its engagement with students' families to ensure consistent school attendance and academic success. Parents are encouraged to actively participate in their children's education by accompanying them to school during the initial days of the new term. This involvement is seen as crucial for setting a positive tone for the school year and reinforcing the importance of education within the family unit.

Overall, the Ministry of Education’s comprehensive approach to this academic year reflects a commitment to enhancing the quality of education and supporting both students and educators in their educational journey.
