Bahri Logistics Center cornerstone laid at Jeddah Islamic Port

Jeddah, February 18, 2024, The foundation stone has been laid for Bahri Logistics Center, a cutting-edge facility of the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri), situated at Jeddah Islamic Port. Spanning an expansive area of 95,436 square meters, this state-of-the-art center, as outlined in a press release from the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), will be under the management of Bahri. It is poised to offer a myriad of storage options in temperature-controlled environments, comprehensive handling services, and value-added services, thereby providing multinational corporations with the opportunity to establish their operational hub within the premises.

Dignitaries present at the cornerstone-laying ceremony included Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of Mawani, Omar Hariri, President of Mawani, and Eng. Ahmed Ali Al-Subaey, CEO of Bahri. Hariri underscored the Bahri Logistics Center's pivotal role in bolstering Mawani's endeavors to fortify the maritime logistics sector, aligning seamlessly with the objectives outlined in the National Transportation and Logistics Strategy (NTLS).

Eng. Al-Subaey expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with Mawani and the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) in establishing this cutting-edge logistics hub. He emphasized the center's potential to exert a significant impact on the national, regional, and global logistics landscape.

"This marks a transformative milestone for Bahri," noted Eng. Al-Subaey. "In addition to enhancing our capabilities and bolstering our standing in the global logistics arena, the Bahri Logistics Center will enable us to seize new opportunities, further enhancing our role in elevating Saudi Arabia's prominence as a global logistics hub."

This project underscores Mawani's unwavering commitment to enhancing Saudi Arabia's logistics infrastructure and capabilities, actively contributing to economic growth and the drive to boost non-oil exports, in line with the ambitious Vision 2030 of the Kingdom, according to the press release.

Expected to commence operations in the first half of 2025, the logistics center will offer unparalleled storage and handling capacities, boasting over 80,000 pallet positions, 40,000 shelving units, and an annual throughput exceeding 900,000 pallets. The facility will be equipped to accommodate reefer, insulated, and dry containers, while also providing an array of services including container maintenance and repair, container cleaning, bonded storage, and haulage.
