Baz Luhrmann to head Red Sea Film Festival jury

Jeddah, September 28, 2023, The Red Sea International Film Festival has announced that Baz Luhrmann, a globally renowned writer, director, and producer, will lead the jury for the Red Sea: Features Competition at this year's festival. The festival's third installment is scheduled to take place in Jeddah from November 30 to December 9.


The Red Sea: Features Competition is set to feature a diverse selection of films produced by filmmakers hailing from the Arab region, Asia, and Africa. Expressing his enthusiasm, Luhrmann stated, "After visiting Saudi Arabia, I felt truly inspired by the remarkable young filmmaking talent emerging from the region. It's an honor to preside over this year's Red Sea International Film Festival Jury and contribute to the transformative impact that cinema is making in the Arab region, Asia, and Africa."


In 2022, the coveted Golden Yusr for Best Feature Film was awarded to "Hanging Gardens," directed by Ahmed Yassin Al Daradji, adding to the festival's legacy of celebrating outstanding cinematic achievements.
