Benzema scores for both teams in captivating Al-Ittihad vs. Al-Taawoun match

ALQASSIM — In a captivating match, French striker Karim Benzema, who plays for Al-Ittihad, managed to score a goal against Al-Taawoun but committed an accidental own goal for his own team. The game concluded in a 1-1 draw, with both teams showcasing remarkable goalkeeping to thwart additional scoring opportunities.

The reigning champion of the Saudi Professional League, Al-Ittihad, found itself in a deadlock against Al-Taawoun, putting a halt to the latter's winning streak in the competition's tenth round.

Karim Benzema initially gave Al-Ittihad the lead with a headed goal in the 22nd minute. However, he swiftly reversed their fortune by scoring an own goal in the 26th minute using the same technique.

As a result of the draw, Al-Taawoun accumulated 23 points, while Al-Ittihad reached 20 points, continuing its streak of setbacks following a loss in the previous round against traditional rivals Al-Ahli.

In another match held in Najran, Al-Fayhaa bounced back to its winning form after two rounds of draws, securing a 2-1 victory over Al-Okhdood at the Prince Hathloul bin Abdulaziz Stadium.

Al-Fayhaa took the lead with a goal from Henry Onyekuru in the 29th minute of the first half. However, Nigerian striker Godwin equalized for Al-Okhdood just before half-time. Zambian player Fashion Sakala then sealed the win for Al-Fayhaa with a goal in the 66th minute.

Following this victory, Al-Fayhaa now has 14 points, while Al-Okhdood remains at 7 points.
