The BMW Group is showcasing what the future generation of automobiles from its core BMW brand will look like with its most recent design concept, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse. Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, states that "The BMW Vision Neue Klasse combines our ability to innovate in the core areas of electrification, digitalization, and circularity. "In this way, we are always able to stay two steps ahead of the future: The Neue Klasse is already bringing the mobility of the next decade to the roads in 2025 and leading BMW into a new era."
The Vision Vehicle, which will be made public for the first time at the IAA Mobility 2023 International Motor Show in Munich, exhibits a distinct design language with broad surfaces and a minimal number of distinctive lines. This strategy highlights distinguishing elements like the BMW kidney grille and the Hofmeister kink of the side window graphic, further enhancing the BMW aesthetic.
Inside, the BMW iDrive's new generation ensures a distinctive digital user experience by seamlessly fusing the physical and digital worlds. The Neue Klasse's carbon footprint is reduced over the course of the vehicle's life due to increased use of secondary raw materials, resource-efficient manufacturing, and a fully electric drivetrain with sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology.
BMW eDrive technology, sixth generation, decreased CO2 production.
The Neue Klasse will significantly boost individual mobility because it is produced at the new plant in Debrecen entirely without fossil fuels and with a far wider usage of primary and secondary materials produced with less CO2. By optimizing weight, air, and rolling resistance as well as through sophisticated heat management, particularly for the electric drive train, sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology will enable high energy efficiency during the vehicle's use phase.
Significant improvements in the new BMW eDrive technology also include freshly created round battery cells, which have an energy density that is more than 20% higher than that of the prismatic cells previously employed. The charging speed for Neue Klasse vehicles will increase by up to 30% thanks to the sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology, and their range will increase by up to 30% as well. All of these actions will result in up to a 25% boost in overall vehicle efficiency.
The future BMW iDrive generation is providing vision.
The BMW Vision Neue Klasse has minimal analog working controls. Through the BMW Panoramic Vision, the Central Display, and the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel, people and cars may communicate with one another. The tried-and-true voice control of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant enhances the user experience. According to the idea of keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road, the new multifunction steering wheel allows you to individually manage the contents of both the BMW 3D head-up display and the BMW Panoramic Vision displays.
The company is once again breaking new ground with BMW Panoramic Vision, which makes its debut in the Neue Klasse, much like how it did with the introduction of the BMW iDrive controller in the center console and the BMW Head-Up Display. For the first time, the entire width of the windscreen is projected with information at the optimal height into the driver's line of sight. Both the driver and front passenger can interact with the data shown on BMW Panoramic Vision in the upcoming version of BMW iDrive, offering a shared user experience. With a single motion, drivers can send content from the central display to the BMW Panoramic Vision.
The new BMW design language is simple, classy, and ageless.
The exterior displays the design cues that will distinguish the different Neue Klasse variants. It is unambiguous, chic, and ageless. The new, all-electric vehicle architecture presents new opportunities for interior design as well. The brand's distinguishing design cues, like the BMW kidney grille and double headlights, are reinterpreted to provide a single area for user interaction on the front of the car. As soon as a person approaches the car, a lighting effect with exact three-dimensional motion starts an intuitive relationship between them and their vehicle. The external welcome scene also includes E-ink elements in the lower portion of the side windows, highlighting the sensor location that triggers automated door opening. Innovative technology also defines the taillight design, which uses 3D-printed light parts that span multiple levels and are carefully controlled to produce a distinctive sensation of depth. The absence of leather or ornate chrome in the interior design minimizes the production process's carbon footprint. Bright cord textiles inside the BMW Vision Neue Klasse offer a cozy environment.
Future generations will enjoy the distinctive BMW driving experience thanks to innovations.
The main components of the transition that the BMW Group is actively shaping are electrification, digitalization, and circularity, starting with the electrified cars under the BMW i brand. The circular economy has enormous potential to cut raw material use and CO2 emissions, as demonstrated by the BMW i Vision Circular. On the other side, the BMW i Vision Dee exemplifies how digital, human-centric technology may improve the user experience.
The BMW Vision Neue Klasse, a vehicle embodying a variety of technological advancements through which the BMW Group is demonstrating its long-term sustainability, brings all these topics together. A new era of individual mobility rich in digital experiences, locally emission-free, and dedicated to long-term circularity is heralded by the BMW Vision Neue Klasse, safeguarding that iconic BMW driving enjoyment for future generations.
