Cadillac is set to make a return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June with three Cadillac V-Series.R hybrid racecars, each supported by experienced championship-winning drivers and teams. This marks the second consecutive year that Cadillac Racing has received three invitations from the event organizer, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), to compete in the classic endurance race.
In the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar competition, Cadillac Racing achieved notable success at Le Mans. The No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R secured a podium finish, and the No. 3 Cadillac V-Series.R finished fourth at Circuit de la Sarthe. The No. 311 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R claimed 10th place in its class.
John Roth, Vice President of Global Cadillac, expressed enthusiasm for Cadillac Racing's return, stating, “After scoring our first podium finish at this iconic endurance race in 2023, we look to build on that success and showcase the Cadillac V-Series.R’s technology, innovation and durability, while demonstrating the remarkable capabilities and determination of our race teams.”
The driver lineup for the three Cadillac V-Series.R racecars is as follows:
1. No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R:
- Drivers: Earl Bamber, Alex Lynn, Alex Palou
2. No. 3 Cadillac V-Series.R (IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship entrant in the Grand Touring Prototype class):
- Drivers: Sébastien Bourdais, Renger van der Zande, Scott Dixon
3. No. 311 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R (IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship entrant in the GTP class):
- Drivers: Pipo Derani, Jack Aitken, Co-driver to be named later
Laura Wontrop Klauser, GM Sports Car Racing Program Manager, highlighted the excitement of challenging for the overall victory at Le Mans and the team's determination to build on the lessons learned in 2023.
Cadillac Racing has been successful in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, claiming every GTP trophy in 2023. The No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R earned driver/team season and IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup titles, and Cadillac secured its fourth Manufacturer Championship and fifth IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup Manufacturer Championship since entering prototype competition in 2017.
The team is poised to defend its Twelve Hours of Sebring victory in March, following a runner-up finish at the 62nd Rolex 24 At Daytona in January.
