MAKKAH, April 1, 2025 – As more pilgrims arrive in Makkah, a new initiative called the Children’s Club is providing a safe, enjoyable space for children, allowing parents to focus on their religious duties.

Childcare centers offering high-quality services are available at the Two Holy Mosques and nearby hotels.

Razan Dahlawi, an adviser to the chairman of the General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques and a key figure overseeing the childcare centers, shared with Arab News: “The authority set up several childcare centers during Ramadan this year.

“They operate around the clock and aim to provide safe, enriching environments through educational and recreational programs that develop children's skills and instill good values.”

The centers offer a variety of activities, including Qur’an and Athkar lessons, storytelling, creative and sensory activities, and healthy meals.

These seasonal childcare centers are located in the third Saudi expansion (areas 12-15), near gates 100 to 104. They cater to boys aged 18 months to 6 years and girls aged 18 months to 9 years.

A team of professional counselors manages the centers, which feature dining areas, visual displays, educational models about the landmarks of the Two Holy Mosques and religious rituals, as well as private sleeping areas.

Hotels near the Grand Mosque are also enhancing their childcare services to align with their premium locations.

Abdullah Hazzazi, assistant front office manager at Dar Al-Tawhid Hotel, mentioned that the Children’s Club “offers a safe and comfortable environment for children, allowing parents to perform Umrah without concern for their children.”

The club blends entertainment with learning, all under the guidance of childcare professionals.

“The club provides entertainment, educational activities, games, and art workshops suitable for all ages, along with healthy meals and medical care,” he added. “We also keep parents updated on their children's status so they can focus on their rituals peacefully.”

Hadeel Al-Harbi, children’s club manager at Shaza Makkah Hotel, explained that children can stay for up to two hours at a time, with the service being free for hotel guests.

“We offer a variety of activities for different age groups, including educational games, art workshops, and entertaining activities that develop children’s skills and make the most of their time,” she said.

Al-Harbi encouraged all pilgrims to make use of this service, describing the club as an ideal solution for families who wish to comfortably and safely perform their religious rites.
