In Riyadh, on September 12, 2024, the General Directorate of Civil Defense Institute earned institutional accreditation from the UK Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE). The accreditation certificate was presented by Peter Holland, the UK Chief Inspector for the Crown Premises Fire Safety Inspectorate in the Home Office and former Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser, to Major General Dr. Hammoud bin Suleiman Al-Faraj, the Acting Director General of Civil Defense.
This accreditation reflects the ongoing collaboration between the Saudi Civil Defense and its British counterparts, facilitated by the Ministry of Interior. It highlights the ministry’s dedication to enhancing civil defense training and making the institute a leading center for education and professional development, not only within Saudi Arabia but also regionally and globally.
Moving forward, the focus will be on improving the skills and efficiency of human resources, upgrading the quality of training programs, and involving a diverse team of officers, personnel, and civilians. Additionally, the institute will implement the Ministry of Interior’s international partnership initiatives and adopt innovative practices to strengthen civil defense capabilities.
