The General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued a weather alert for thunderstorms expected from tomorrow until Friday, affecting various regions across Saudi Arabia with varying rainfall intensities.

Riyadh, September 10, 2024 — The General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued a warning regarding the anticipated thunderstorms affecting several regions of Saudi Arabia. Starting tomorrow, Monday, and continuing through Friday, various areas will experience different intensities of rainfall.


In the Makkah region, residents should prepare for light to moderate rain, which could result in flash floods, hail, and strong winds. The Riyadh region will see light rain in locations including Afif, Al-Dawadmi, Al-Quwai'iyah, Al-Aflaj, Al-Sulayyil, and Wadi Al-Dawasir.


Al-Baha, Aseer, and Jazan regions are expected to receive moderate to heavy rain, while Hail, Al-Qassim, Al-Sharqiyah, Al-Madinah, and Najran will likely experience light to moderate rainfall.


The Civil Defense Directorate advises residents in affected areas to exercise caution during this period. They recommend staying in safe locations, avoiding areas prone to flooding, not swimming in torrents or valleys, and following official guidance for safety.
