Cairo, November 05, 2023, The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Adel Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi, has announced the establishment of a committee comprising members from the Arab Parliament and the Egyptian House of Representatives. This committee is entrusted with the critical task of documenting the acts of genocide committed by Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.
The primary goal of this committee is to take proactive measures on behalf of the Arab people, both regionally and internationally. Their main focus will be on creating comprehensive documentary reports and collecting evidence regarding these inhumane crimes. These reports will subsequently be presented to relevant competent authorities, including the United Nations Security Council, the International Criminal Court, and the Human Rights Council. The ultimate aim is to ensure that those responsible for these heinous acts are held accountable for their actions.
During a joint meeting between the Arab Parliament and the Human Rights Committee of the Egyptian House of Representatives, extensive discussions revolved around the grave violations committed by Israeli occupation forces against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. These actions blatantly contravene international human rights principles and show a disregard for established international norms and conventions.
Al-Asoumi emphasized during the meeting that the committee will remain in a continuous session to effectively monitor and document ongoing events. The purpose of this vigilance is to create a unified Arab parliamentary perspective aimed at confronting the brutal attacks on civilians, the targeting of hospitals and schools, and the relentless bombings that have tragically resulted in the deaths of thousands, with a disproportionate impact on women and children.
