New York, September 20, 2023, The Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir meeting was held today alongside the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 78), and it was attended by Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the minister of foreign affairs. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) organized the meeting. Prince Faisal bin Farhan addressed the group and stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia supports all Muslim peoples in upholding their dignity and Islamic identity. The foreign minister also reaffirmed the Kingdom's support for those who are suffering in areas affected by conflict and unrest, particularly the people of the Jammu and Kashmir region.
The foreign minister warned that leaving the Jammu and Kashmir problem unaddressed will contribute to regional instability and cited it as one of the most significant threats to the security and stability of the area.
The foreign minister stated that the Kingdom is making an unceasing effort to mediate between the parties to the conflict in order to prevent further escalation and to bring about calm and a peaceful resolution in conformity with the pertinent international resolutions.
Such initiatives are a result of the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to helping Islamic people.
Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, deputy minister for international multilateral affairs, and Abdulrahman Al-Dawood, director general of the ministry of foreign affairs, were present during the meeting.
