Riyadh, December 07, 2023, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC), has officially launched the urban design for the city of Qiddiya, along with unveiling Qiddiya's brand. The Crown Prince envisions Qiddiya becoming a leading global destination in the fields of entertainment, sports, and culture, with a positive impact on the Kingdom's economy and international standing.
Qiddiya is a cornerstone of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to diversify the Kingdom's economy and create numerous job opportunities for the Saudi youth. The philosophy behind Qiddiya is centered around the concept of play, recognizing its crucial role in human cognitive development, emotional expression, social skills, creativity, and physical health. The city is designed to offer a unique blend of entertainment, sports, culture, and urban living.
Qiddiya City, located on the outskirts of Riyadh, is progressing in its construction with awarded contracts worth SAR 10 billion. The city will cover an area of 360 square kilometers, eventually hosting over 600,000 residents and creating over 325,000 job opportunities. Qiddiya City is anticipated to attract 48 million visits annually, featuring world-class attractions and venues.
Situated 40 minutes from Riyadh center and overlooking the Tuwaiq mountains, Qiddiya City will include a gaming and e-sports district, a speed park track, golf courses, a water theme park, and Six Flags Qiddiya. The city will also house a stadium with the world's largest Olympic museum. The unique proximity and concentration of sports, culture, and entertainment experiences make Qiddiya a globally distinctive destination.
Qiddiya plans to launch its first assets over the next two years, contributing to Riyadh's strategic position, economic growth, and improving the quality of life for residents and visitors.
