CST establishes "Space Challenge Camp" for undergraduates and graduates

Riyadh, September 15, 2023, Targeting undergraduate students and recent graduates, the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) established the "Space Challenge Camp" in the field of space science and engineering. The camp is a component of CST's role in enabling national human capabilities in the space field, and it aims to improve participants' knowledge and skills while also introducing them to upcoming opportunities, boosting national competencies, and motivating future generations to pursue careers in science with a focus on space sciences. The camp, which will last two weeks in October, will be divided into two phases, according to CST, one of which will be conducted virtually via the website and the other on-site at the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Nonprofit City (Misk) in Riyadh. The focus of the camp will be on introducing participants to spaceflight, space program management, spacecraft systems, atmospheric re-entry approaches, and landing procedures.

The camp will train participants in managing space programs, comprehending the fundamentals of human spaceflight design, design skills, problem-solving skills, teamwork skills, and team management, according to CST, who stressed how the camp will help participants enhance their knowledge and skills. The camp will also include competitions where participants will come up with creative answers to problems faced by astronauts during human spaceflight missions.

The Space Challenge Camp is only open to Saudi nationals who are currently enrolled in bachelor's degree programs with majors in science or engineering, according to CST. It's necessary for recent graduates to have a bachelor's degree in science or engineering. Along with fulfilling all other program criteria, competency in spoken and written English is also required.

The Space Challenge Camp will feature lectures based on experiential learning offered by professionals and specialists in the field of space, and participants will obtain certificates of attendance from the CST commission, according to CST.
