Riyadh, September 04, 2023, The "Data Center Services Regulations" document was released by the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) in an effort to keep up with the industry's rapid development and to promote digital transformation across all sectors in the Kingdom. The document, according to CST, aims to encourage investment in data centers, promote fair competition, and foster an environment conducive to the industry's anticipated growth. It also aims to make the best possible use of the infrastructure in the communications and information technology sectors and to advance and promote environmentally friendly data centers. As part of CST's ongoing effort to localize and improve digital services in the Kingdom, the company added that the regulation will improve the quality of services, protect users, and attract data center service providers. These providers will then attract other high-quality investments like content delivery networks, game publishers, and operators of streaming services for video games.
The rule will also aid in the implementation of strategies, initiatives, and plans intended to increase investment in the data center industry and strengthen the Kingdom's standing as a regional hub and a destination for businesspeople and investors.
Before the agreement enters into force on January 1, 2024, CST requests that all companies that supply services to data centers read the agreement and register on the CST website. The following link will take you to the document for viewing:
