Riyadh, October 6, 2023, The Culinary Arts Commission recently took part in the UN World Tourism Organization's (UNWTO) World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism in San Sebastian, Spain, from October 5 to 7. The theme of the forum, "Gastronomy Tourism: Back to the roots," served as a platform for the Saudi commission to spotlight Saudi culinary arts and culture on the global stage.
The commission's primary objective at the event was to facilitate the exchange of culinary expertise between Saudi chefs and their international counterparts. Saudi Arabia's presence was notably represented through an interactive booth dedicated to Saudi coffee, which is deeply ingrained in the nation's cultural identity, both historically and in the contemporary context.
Saudi coffee holds significant cultural value, symbolizing generosity and hospitality within the Kingdom. The booth highlighted aspects of coffee cultivation, the various levels of roasting, and the distinct flavors associated with different regions across Saudi Arabia.
In addition to coffee, the booth featured an array of local dates, including renowned varieties such as Sukkari, Khalas, and Ajwa. Furthermore, it showcased Kleicha, one of Saudi Arabia's most celebrated sweets, adding further depth to the cultural experience offered at the forum.
