Culinary Arts Commission Launches Nationwide Exhibition Showcasing Saudi Culinary Heritage

In a gastronomic celebration set to kick off at the end of November, the Culinary Arts Commission unveils plans for a seven-month mobile exhibition, spotlighting Saudi national dishes and sweets. The exhibition, spanning the length and breadth of the Kingdom, will creatively present culinary delights such as the national dish "Jareesh" and the national dessert "Maqshush." Designed to traverse key locations including markets, public spaces, schools, and local events, the "Novelty of National Dishes and Local Areas Dishes" initiative aims to acquaint diverse segments of society with the rich tapestry of Saudi cuisine. By showcasing the historical significance of dishes, the exhibition seeks to underscore how culinary traditions form an integral part of the Kingdom's identity. Embarking on its journey in Riyadh, the exhibition will then journey through Makkah, Madinah, Tabuk, Al-Jawf, the Northern Borders Region, Hail, Al-Qassim, the Eastern Region, Najran, Jizan, Asir, and conclude in Al-Baha. The selected national dishes, Jareesh and Maqshush, not only represent Saudi culinary heritage but also contribute to cultural exchange on a global scale, garnering attention from travelers, geographers, and Orientalists. Through this interactive initiative, the Culinary Arts Commission aims to deepen public awareness of local heritage, nurture a profound connection with Saudi culinary traditions across all age groups, and create an immersive, pride-inducing experience for visitors. The exhibition seeks to be a timeless journey, leaving a lasting impact on individuals while promoting the rich tapestry of traditional Saudi cuisine worldwide.
