Riyadh, September 10, 2023, The "Cultural" TV channel will debut on September 23 in time for Saudi Arabia's National Day and will be streamable via Shahid.net and the MBC satellite service. The channel offers a variety of interactive programming that highlights Saudi Arabia's rich cultural legacy in an effort to appeal to both the intellectual elite and the general public. Plays, concerts, cultural events, and documentaries with well-known authors, poets, and professors will be included in the programming. The channel will specifically focus on the "Year of Arabic Poetry" initiative, which the Ministry of Culture launched earlier this year to highlight the significant role poetry has played in Arab culture and history. A noteworthy poetry contest will also be held on the channel, and the winner's poem will be publicly exhibited throughout Riyadh. The channel will also have a daily news program that will cover the most recent changes in Saudi, Arab, and international cultural events. A book review program that explores important books and their cultural significance will also be available. A fashion program will also enable individuals to display their Saudi identity through their hair, cosmetics, and attire. There will be a cooking presentation for foodies starring Chef Rakan Al-Arifi, who will tour neighborhood farms and markets and use fresh local ingredients to make well-known dishes from around the world. The programs mentioned above are only a few examples of those that will emphasize Saudi Arabia's legacy, civilization, and cultural history while reflecting the perspectives of the Saudi people.
An agreement between MBC Group Chairman Waleed Al Ibrahim and Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan was reached in August 2023, which led to the creation of the "Cultural" TV channel. The channel intends to highlight Saudi Arabia's dynamic and varied culture, thus enhancing the Kingdom's status as the cultural center of the region.
