Riyadh, April 27, 2024, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, renowned as the premier multilateral development bank of the Global South with a AAA rating, is currently hosting its 2024 Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This significant gathering takes place from April 27 to April 30, 2024.
This year's meetings hold additional significance as they coincide with the IsDB's Golden Jubilee, commemorating 50 years of dedicated efforts in fostering socio-economic development across its 57 member countries. Themed "Cherishing our Past, Charting our Future: Originality, Solidarity, and Prosperity," the event highlights the bank's rich legacy while also delineating its future objectives.
The attendees comprise finance ministers, representatives from financial institutions, Islamic finance experts, private sector delegatesinvited, and non-governmental organizations. The IsDB has extended invitations to leading media outlets to cover this momentous occasion.
The agenda for the meetings is replete with knowledge-sharing sessions, seminars, and press conferences aimed at delving into crucial topics such as development strategies, regional collaboration, and the intricacies of Islamic finance. Noteworthy sessions include the governors' roundtable meeting, the 18th IsDB Global Forum on Islamic Finance, the IsDB Group 2024 Private Sector Forum, the Philanthropy Forum, and The Future Symposium.
Key discussions will revolve around pressing issues like multidimensional poverty, fostering South-South cooperation, and devising strategies for financing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A strategic session titled "Unlocking Economic Potential" will bring together chief executive officers of IsDB entities, showcasing the bank's unwavering commitment to catalyzing economic progress.
