The 19th of June, 2024, Makkah. The Ministry of Commerce was responsible for distributing about 400 million food items to pilgrims during the Hajj season of 1445 AH. The Ministry of Commerce transported almost 160 million packages of milk and juice, making beverages the most popular category. After this, the next most popular items were baked goods (more than 84 million loaves of bread) and bottled water (nearly 147 million packets). It is for this reason, in fact, that the supervisory teams at the ministry worked with this year's Hajj organizers to ensure such things were available to pilgrims. They looked into the retail outlets, monitored food supply chains, and regulated commercial establishments, so everything was by the book on consumer protection stipulations.
