This is Riyadh on June 6, 2024. A number of ministers and the deputy governor of the Makkah region examined the operational plans for delivering energy services and petroleum supplies to the holy sites in Makkah and Madinah during this year's Hajj season, which ended in 1445 AH. The inspection took place under the leadership of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, and Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing Majed bin Abdullah Al-Hogail. The authorities scrutinized the energy infrastructure in Makkah and the holy sites, along with projects aimed at improving the electrical services available to Hajj pilgrims.
They traveled to a variety of locations to observe recently constructed stations and projects that the Saudi Electricity Company has undertaken in order to enhance the reliability of the electrical supply for pilgrims. These projects encompass digital transformation, automation of the electrical network, enhancement of the transmission and distribution networks, and the supply of mobile stations directly connected to the electrical grid. The company built fiber-optic network efforts, which enable remote responsiveness to beneficiaries through the management of the primary control center. Senior officials conducted an inspection of the electrical network operations and control center in Mina. Highly certified individuals, both nationally and internationally, manage and govern the five specialized centers that make up this center.
The center is in charge of monitoring the electrical networks that connect all of the holy sites. The smart meter control center report management and processing procedures and about the service teams’ starting points in the various holy sites was passed to them. Also, the Ministry of Petrol on its way to the Ministry of Energy made a valuable overview of the ministry’s objectives and proactive initiatives to ensure and improve security and reliability of oil products supply in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia particularly in Makkah. The program aims to assist pilgrims traveling from both domestic and international destinations. These efforts include regular inspections on regional routes that connect border crossings and travel to holy locations.
The efforts include enhancing the services offered at service centers and gas stations located along these highways. The authorities received a briefing on the primary and backup supply methods for petroleum products during their journey, which included a number of successfully completed existing projects. These plans include boosting stock levels and maintaining them at a consistent level during the Hajj season, enhancing the transportation fleet for petroleum products in Makkah and Madinah, and establishing integrated stations to provide service to a large number of government institutions located in the holy sites. As part of its ongoing efforts to provide energy services, improve the reliability of electricity supplies to the holy sites in Mina and Arafat, and prepare for the upcoming Hajj season in 1445 AH, the Ministry of Energy is conducting this inspection tour.
