Deputy Minister Dr. Fahad Abu-Mouti hosts World Water Council delegation

Riyadh, January 30, 2024, Dr. Fahad Abu-Mouti, the Deputy Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture for Regulatory Affairs and head of the founding team of the Global Water Organization, received a delegation from the World Water Council. The delegation is tasked with evaluating Saudi Arabia's bid to host the World Water Forum in Riyadh in 2027.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the role of the Kingdom's water regulator and the measures taken to support and develop the water sector. The emphasis was on increasing the efficiency of services, achieving water security, and promoting private sector participation in water-related activities. Abu-Mouti highlighted the Kingdom's regulatory experience in issuing licenses, monitoring service providers, and raising awareness about the rights and duties of water beneficiaries.

Abu-Mouti expressed the Kingdom's commitment to addressing global water issues, fostering innovation, and finding technical solutions to meet water challenges. This commitment is underscored by the announcement of the establishment of the Global Water Organization in Riyadh, as per the directive of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The decision on the host country for the 11th session of the World Water Forum in 2027 will be announced in May 2024 during the forum in Bali, Indonesia. The preparatory process involves consultative conferences at various levels in 2025 and 2026 to ensure the success of this significant global event.
