Doha, November 2, 2024 — The Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs, Engineer Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salamah, led the Saudi delegation at the 53rd meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Industrial Cooperation Committee, held in Doha, Qatar. The high-profile meeting brought together key stakeholders and leaders from across the GCC with the goal of advancing the industrial sectors within member states, fostering economic integration, and driving innovation within the region’s industrial framework.


During the committee’s discussions, a range of topics critical to regional development were addressed, including strategies to strengthen cooperation, share expertise, and streamline knowledge exchange among GCC countries. Central to the agenda were discussions on integrating advanced technology, promoting innovation, and embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution’s transformative techniques in industrial processes and systems. The committee’s focus on these themes underscores the GCC’s commitment to positioning the region at the forefront of technological and industrial advancements.


Engineer bin Salamah also participated in a consultative session with GCC ministers of trade and industry, as well as leaders from national chambers of commerce and industrial federations, to further discuss strategies for collaborative development across the region. These discussions emphasized enhancing inter-country cooperation, aligning trade and industrial policies, and advancing the GCC’s collective economic goals.


On the sidelines of the committee meeting, Engineer bin Salamah held bilateral discussions with prominent officials from several GCC member states. This included meetings with Omani Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais bin Mohammed Al-Yousef, Kuwaiti Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa bin Abdullah Al-Ajeel, Bahraini Minister of Industry and Commerce Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, and Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) chief executive Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Mohammed. These meetings provided a platform to explore opportunities for strengthening industrial ties, fostering mutual investments, and advancing collaborative projects that would benefit each nation’s economic and industrial objectives.


As part of the day’s proceedings, Engineer bin Salamah also attended the prestigious Gulf Inventors’ Award Ceremony. Held as a highlight of the Second Gulf Industrial Exhibition, the ceremony recognized 12 distinguished inventors from across the GCC—two representatives from each member state—celebrating their contributions to innovation and creativity within the region. The awards aim to inspire future innovations that align with the GCC’s vision for economic and industrial transformation.


Through this gathering, GCC leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to a collaborative industrial strategy that not only enhances the competitiveness of the region but also promotes sustainable economic growth and development.
