Deputy Minister of Industry Visits SAMI to Explore Manufacturing Technologies

Riyadh, October 4, 2024—Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs, Engineer Khalil Ibn Salamah, visited Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) on Thursday to gain insights into the latest advancements in the Kingdom’s military manufacturing sector. During his visit, Eng. Salamah was given a comprehensive briefing on the cutting-edge military technologies being developed at SAMI’s industrial facilities, including a review of the company’s current and upcoming military products. His visit underscored the importance of innovation and technological advancement in fortifying Saudi Arabia’s defense capabilities.

A key aspect of the visit involved an inspection of SAMI’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities, which play a crucial role in ensuring the operational readiness and longevity of military equipment. Eng. Salamah’s tour also included visits to several SAMI subsidiaries and partners, such as Alsalam Aerospace Industries, SAMI Technology Headquarters, SAMI Advanced Electronics Company (SAMI-AEC), and SAMI Composites LLC. These entities are integral to the Kingdom’s strategy of localizing its defense industry, a priority in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

Each of these facilities is involved in the production and development of a wide range of military products, from advanced aerospace technologies to sophisticated electronic systems and composite materials, all of which contribute to Saudi Arabia’s growing self-reliance in defense manufacturing. The visit highlighted SAMI’s pivotal role in boosting the Kingdom’s industrial and defense sectors, with a clear focus on localizing production, enhancing technological capabilities, and reducing dependence on foreign military imports.

By supporting these initiatives, Saudi Arabia is working toward establishing itself as a regional leader in military manufacturing, with SAMI at the forefront of these efforts. Eng. Salamah's visit not only showcased the advancements made in defense technology but also reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to supporting the defense industry as a key pillar of the nation’s industrial strategy.
