Diriyah Gate Development Authority Hosts Diriyah Global Seminar to Celebrate Cultural Heritage

Diriyah, 10 December 2023, The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) kicked off the Diriyah Global Seminar, a two-day event organized under the theme "Diriyah: A Mosaic of Cultural Encounters." The seminar, inaugurated by DGDA CEO Jerry Inzerillo, gathers local and global scholars, researchers, specialists, and students to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, intellectual curiosity, and academic research.

The event serves as a platform to showcase the rich archaeological discoveries, cultural heritage, and historical significance of Diriyah, spanning over 600 years. The seminar covers three main themes in its diverse sessions:

1. "The Architectural and Artistic Intersections": This theme explores the distinctive architectural characteristics that have shaped the region.

2. "Woven Histories": The sessions under this theme highlight influential historical figures and events that have contributed to shaping Diriyah's history.

3. "Unearthing the Past": This theme emphasizes the importance of heritage discoveries, shedding light on the diverse factors that have shaped the unique identity of Diriyah.

Jerry Inzerillo emphasized the significance of the Diriyah Global Seminar, stating, "The Diriyah Global Seminar underscores our commitment to establishing one of the world's greatest cultural gathering places — a space that nurtures creativity and innovation and serves as a global platform to engage in cultural exchange."

The event is accompanied by an exhibition lasting over a week, showcasing Diriyah's history, heritage, and rich culture. Participants will also embark on organized field visits to explore heritage and cultural sites, including the historical At-Turaif district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Bujairi Terrace, a convergence point for the finest restaurants and cafes from the Kingdom and around the world.

The Diriyah Global Seminar stands as a testament to the commitment of the DGDA to celebrate and highlight the cultural legacy of Diriyah, fostering a global dialogue on the region's rich history and heritage.
