Diriyah hosts ABB FIA Formula E 2024 World Championship on January 26-27

Riyadh, January 25, 2024, In an exciting development, the historic city of Diriyah is gearing up to host the ABB FIA Formula E 2024 World Championship for the sixth consecutive time. The upcoming event, which marks the second and third rounds of the championship's 10th season, is scheduled to take place on January 26 and 27.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, the Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, highlighted the significance of hosting one of the world's premier motor races in Diriyah. This marks the sixth consecutive year of hosting the event, underscoring the strong support and interest from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.

In a press statement, Prince Abdulaziz emphasized the continuous commitment to advancing the Kingdom's position as a hub for international sporting events. The organizational excellence showcased in hosting events like the Formula E reinforces Saudi Arabia's capacity to host a variety of sporting spectacles, further solidifying its stature in the global sports arena.

The 2024 Diriyah season will witness 22 elite drivers from 11 global teams competing in the Formula E event. Among them is Jake Dennis, the reigning World Championship holder from Andretti Global, who clinched the second position in both rounds of the 2023 Formula E Diriyah race. The lineup also includes six former world series titleholders and Pascal Wehrlein of the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team, the victor of the previous season's Diriyah race.

The consistent hosting of Formula E for the sixth consecutive year not only showcases the Kingdom's passion for motor racing but also enhances its global standing as a premier destination for diverse and thrilling sporting events. The anticipation is palpable as Diriyah prepares to welcome motorsport enthusiasts and showcase the Kingdom's commitment to excellence in organizing major international championships.
