Baku, November 23, 2023, Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Abuthnain, Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labor, led the Saudi delegation at the 5th session of the Islamic Conference of Labor Ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The conference took place in the city of Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, from February 22 to 24.
In his opening speech, Dr. Abdullah Abuthnain highlighted positive developments and achievements in the Kingdom's labor market. He emphasized initiatives focusing on the professional development of national talent and the establishment of sectoral skill councils in collaboration with the private sector. These councils aim to plan and develop skills in 12 major economic sectors.
Dr. Abuthnain also provided insights into various initiatives related to occupational health and safety, as well as the development of the work environment.
Additionally, the Saudi delegation participated in the opening of the General Assembly of the OIC Duty Center. During this session, the Kingdom was elected as Vice-President of the General Assembly of the Duty Center for a one-year term and Vice-President of the Executive Council of the Duty Center for a period of three years. This acknowledgment reflects Saudi Arabia's active role and commitment to cooperation in the realm of labor within the OIC member states.
