DUBAI, April 4, 2025: As the playoff season approaches, Dubai Basketball continues to shine in their debut ABA League season, securing back-to-back victories and solidifying their status as serious title contenders.

Their latest triumph came on Saturday night, where they dominated FMP Soccerbet with a commanding 84-61 victory, strengthening their position among the top three teams in the ABA League.

With only five games remaining before the playoffs in May, Dubai now sets their sights on silverware. A surprising loss by reigning champions Crvena Zvezda in Round 25 has elevated Dubai Basketball to an extraordinary position in their debut season.

From the opening tip, Dubai made an impressive start, with Ahmet Duverioglu leading the charge with back-to-back two-pointers. Davis Bertans quickly followed with consecutive three-pointers, giving Dubai an early lead. Their stifling defense and physical play shut down FMP’s offense, which had previously defeated Dubai on Serbian soil. By the end of the first quarter, Dubai had already built a commanding 10-point lead.

Dubai Basketball coach Jurica Golemac reflected on the impressive win: “The players deserve all the credit. These games are never easy. We were focused, disciplined, and serious about the task. We have a great group of experienced players, and they understand the importance of securing the best position possible before the playoffs. They’re all locked in and focused.”

FMP tried to rally in the second quarter, led by Filip Barna, who scored 17 points. However, Dubai maintained their intensity, and by halftime, their lead had ballooned to nearly 20 points, thanks to a stellar 18-point performance from Nate Mason.

With three minutes remaining, Dubai held a comfortable 20-point advantage, effectively sealing the win. The crowd at the Coca-Cola Arena erupted when Filipino star Thirdy Ravena hit a three-point jumper with just two minutes left on the clock, providing the night’s most electrifying moment.

Dubai Basketball now looks ahead to next weekend, aiming to stay at the top of the ABA League standings with a league title within reach. The team faces Croatian side Zadar on April 6 at Coca-Cola Arena in what promises to be another thrilling home game.
