The Ministry of the Interior stated that in a bid to ensure the upholding of the standards and directions set for Hajj, the Hajj Security Forces have intercepted no less than eight people at the entrance points of Makkah for performing the Hajj without a permit. On June 6, authorities detained three locals and five citizens for violating the law by transporting a total of 36 people.
The General Directorate of Passports issued administrative decisions against the perpetrators, which included a prison sentence of fifteen days for each transporter, a fine of ten thousand Saudi Riyals for each violator who was transported, defamation of the perpetrators, deportation of expatriate transporters with a prohibition on re-entering the Kingdom for a specified period of time after the sentence was executed, and the judicial confiscation of three vehicles that were used in transportation. The Ministry of Interior advised all nationals and expatriates to follow the Hajj norms in order to ensure the pilgrims' safety, security, comfort, and reassurance while they were participating in the ceremonies.
