Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman meets UK Secretary Claire Coutinho

Riyadh, February 19, 2024, The Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, held a meeting in Riyadh today with the UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Claire Coutinho.

During the meeting, both parties expressed appreciation for the strong bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom. The discussions centered around exploring opportunities for collaboration in various energy-related fields, aligning with the Memorandum of Cooperation in the energy sector between the two governments.

One key focus of the meeting was the potential for joint efforts in establishing comprehensive standards for clean hydrogen, with an emphasis on emissions reduction. Additionally, the parties delved into the formulation of regulations and policies concerning carbon dioxide capture, transportation, and storage activities. The dialogue extended to the localization of energy components, with an exchange of experiences and discussions on developing relevant regulations and policies.

The meeting underscored the Kingdom's commitment to addressing climate change challenges through various initiatives, including the Saudi Green Initiative, the Middle East Green Initiative, and the endeavors of the Oil Sustainability Program.

Furthermore, both sides explored avenues for enhanced cooperation in renewable energy, petrochemicals, power plants, and the localization of energy sector components. Aspirations were expressed for mutual participation of companies in the implementation of numerous projects within these sectors, showcasing the shared commitment to advancing sustainable energy practices.
