Cairo, September 06, 2023, Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, took part in today's ministerial session of the 160th Ordinary Meeting of the Council of the Arab League in Cairo. Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the minister of foreign affairs, was represented at the meeting by El-Khereiji. El-Khereiji noted that the globe is now facing significant challenges and difficulties across various domains in his speech at the Arab League's General Secretariat meeting. He emphasized the urgent need to align and step up Arab efforts while also improving cooperation and dialogue among Arab states. The vice foreign minister also emphasized the significance of bolstering Arab nation-to-nation cooperation in order to realize the ambitions of Arab leaders and their peoples for development and prosperity. He also stressed the value of regional collaboration, peace, security, and stability.
El-Khereiji also emphasized the Kingdom's unwavering dedication to humanitarian causes, noting that over the past seven decades, Saudi Arabia has given aid worth US$95 billion to 160 countries, establishing the Kingdom as a major donor to humanitarian and developmental assistance.
El-Khereiji reiterated the Kingdom's unequivocal support for peace as the best course of action for Arab nations. In order to fulfill the aspirations of the Palestinian people, he expressed support for accelerated negotiations to arrive at a comprehensive and just settlement in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
El-Khereiji criticized Israel's occupation troops' aggression, unilateral actions, and frequent provocations, highlighting the harm they did to the peace process.
The vice minister emphasized that Syria's rejoining the Arab world will help the country resolve its crisis. He reaffirmed the support of the Kingdom for all initiatives to find a political solution to the Syrian issue that protects the nation's territorial integrity, security, stability, and Arab character. He also reaffirmed the Kingdom's demand that all foreign troops and extremist organizations leave Syria, stressing the dangers they bring to the country and the wider region.
Regarding Sudan, the Vice Minister expressed grave worry over the deadlocked negotiations intended to end the violence and establish a long-term truce. Such an accord is essential to resuming political discussion and ending the Sudanese people's suffering.
El-Khereiji urged the international community to step up efforts to create a Middle East devoid of nuclear weapons. He emphasized the importance of continuing and stepping up efforts to combat terrorism and took a strong position against nations that finance and support terrorism and extremism.
