Beirut, December 23, 2024 – In a significant humanitarian effort, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) distributed 175,000 bread bags to Syrian and Palestinian refugee families, as well as to members of the host community in northern Lebanon, during the period of December 5 to 11, 2024. The distribution was part of the fourth phase of the Al Amal Charity Bakery project, which is being implemented in the Akkar Governorate and Miniyeh District, two areas that are home to large numbers of refugees and vulnerable families.
This vital initiative aimed to alleviate the daily struggles of around 12,500 families, benefiting an estimated 62,500 individuals in total. The bread bags, a basic but essential staple, were distributed to provide much-needed food support, particularly as many of the recipient families face significant economic challenges due to the ongoing regional crisis.
The Al Amal Charity Bakery project represents part of Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian commitment to supporting refugees, internally displaced persons, and vulnerable communities in Lebanon. This initiative underscores the Kingdom’s ongoing dedication to providing life-sustaining aid to populations affected by the Syrian refugee crisis, as well as strengthening its partnerships with Lebanon to address the dire humanitarian needs in the region.
KSrelief’s distribution efforts reflect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strategic approach to humanitarian assistance, focusing on food security, nutrition, and welfare for both displaced populations and host communities alike. Through such projects, KSrelief continues to enhance its role as a leader in global humanitarian relief, striving to mitigate suffering and promote stability in the Middle East.
By addressing urgent needs like food provision, the Al Amal Charity Bakery project helps to foster a sense of solidarity, giving hope to those who are struggling with displacement, poverty, and a lack of resources. The initiative is a crucial part of Saudi Arabia's commitment to delivering essential aid and support to Lebanon and the broader region during times of crisis.
