Riyadh, March 21, 2024, The FIFA Series 2024 experimental project is set to commence on Thursday with friendly matches, marking the Kingdom's inaugural hosting of two groups aligned with FIFA's ongoing international match days.
FIFA has declared its backing for member federations by organizing a series of international friendly matches, featuring four national teams representing diverse continental federations, all taking place in a single host country.
Jeddah Governorate will play host to two groups at the reserve stadiums of King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sport City Stadium from March 21 to March 26.
The first group comprises teams from Cape Verde (CAF), Cambodia (AFC), Equatorial Guinea (CAF), and Guyana (CONCACAF). The second group will feature Bermuda (CONCACAF), Brunei Darussalam (AFC), Guinea (CAF), and Vanuatu (OFC).
All participating teams have arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah in preparation for the kickoff on Thursday. They are currently conducting their practice sessions at the training facilities of King Abdullah Sports City.
The hosting of this intercontinental championship underscores the ongoing collaboration between Saudi and international football federations, contributing significantly to FIFA's developmental plans, particularly in enhancing national teams and providing opportunities for technical growth.
By hosting two groups for this project, the Kingdom reinforces its position as a premier destination for global sporting events. Recently, Saudi Arabia has hosted a range of major tournaments, including the FIFA Club World Cup, Spanish and Italian Super Cups, and West Asian Women's Championship. Additionally, it has announced plans to host the Asian Cup 2027 as part of its bid for the FIFA World Cup 2034, further solidifying its stature in the world of sports.
