- The objectives of the meeting were to enhance the relationship between the Federal National Council and the Shura Council and to fortify the friendship between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

A Sikh Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh met today with First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, and his entourage in his Algiers apartment. Al-Tayer presides over the United Arab Emirates National Council. The 36th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference took place at the same time as a conference which Al-Sheikh attended. Their lengthy connection was underscored by Saudi Arabia together with United Arab Emirates in the course of the meeting. They talked about how the Federal National Council and the Shura Council are related, and how to make it better. They also discussed themes of common interest and examined the items on the conference agenda.Al-Sheikh also called meetings with several of the delegates in attendance at the event.
