June 2, 2024, Riyadh: The GCC Commercial Arbitration Centre has established a strategic partnership with the Scottish Arbitration Centre and the International Conference on Law in preparation for the 8th Conference on Arbitration and Dispute Resolution in Energy, Oil, and Gas set for 2025. For the first time, the conference will be held in a GCC nation. The statement was made during a reception by the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), which is actively involved in conference organization. Trade attachés from the UK's embassies in the Gulf and Arab nations, as well as the Gulf Cooperation Council's chairman of the board of directors and members of its advisory committee, will be present at the event. The conference will also be attended by professionals in the fields of law and business.

In the opinion of GCCCAC, this cooperation will raise awareness of international arbitration in the region of the Arabian Gulf. It will identify issues and concerns for oil disputes in the Gulf region on a legal, geopolitical, economic, and security level and provide viable solutions. The Secretary-General of the GCCC, Dr. Kamal Al Hamad, has stated that the fact that such a prestigious conference is being held in a Gulf country is an indicator of a marked rise in the number of oil and energy companies in the region and also changes in the price of gas and oil. These factors often result in many rows, which necessitate effective conflict resolution methods. In the opinion of Al Hamad, 43% of all international disputes in the energy industry are resolved through arbitration or dispute resolution.
