First Turkish Pilgrim Group Enters Madinah Through the Makkah Route Initiative

On May 10, 2024, in Madinah, the Makkah Route initiative saw the arrival of the first group of Turkiye pilgrims at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport.

The Ministry of Interior initiated the project, which is a component of the larger Pilgrim Experience Program under Saudi Vision 2030.

As part of the Makkah Route Initiative, pilgrims fulfill all requirements in their home country, such as electronic visa issuance, biometric data collection, and airport departure checks. Verification of health requirements is done, and luggage is coded and arranged according to pre-scheduled travel and lodging in Saudi Arabia.

When pilgrims arrive at the airport in Madinah, they are taken straight to buses that are meant to take them to their homes in Makkah and Madinah. Service providers guarantee that guests' luggage is delivered right to their lodging.
