As an affiliate member, flynas joins over 500 companies, educational institutions, research bodies, and NGOs in engaging in dialogue and collaborative efforts to contribute to sustainable global tourism. This commitment reflects flynas' dedication to responsible and competitive tourism in line with the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism and UN principles.
CEO and Managing Director of flynas, Bander Almohanna, emphasized that flynas' membership in the UNWTO solidifies its position as one of the world's top five low-cost carriers. He highlighted the synergy between the organization's goals and flynas' sustainability plan, emphasizing the airline's role in shaping the future of global travel and building a sustainable tourism sector.
Almohanna noted that sustainability is at the core of flynas' operations, aligning with the Kingdom's objective of achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2060. This membership comes as Saudi Arabia is set to host the 26th UNWTO General Assembly in 2025, highlighting the country's increasing prominence in global tourism.
flynas' commitment to sustainability was further underscored when it joined the United Nations Global Compact in August, making it the first airline in Saudi Arabia and the first low-cost airline in the Middle East to join the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative. The airline's achievements have earned it international recognition, including the Skytrax International Award for Best Low-cost Airline in the Middle East in 2023 and the World Travel Awards' Best Low-cost Airline in the Middle East for the ninth consecutive time in 2023.
