On Friday, December 1, flynas, the prominent low-cost carrier in the Middle East, marked a significant milestone with the launch of its latest operation base at Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. The celebration included the inauguration of six new destinations: Abha, Tabuk, Dubai, Amman, Istanbul, and Ankara, adding to the existing routes from Madinah to Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Cairo. With this expansion, flynas now serves a total of 10 destinations from its new operational hub in Madinah.
As part of its strategic growth plan, flynas becomes the sole carrier with four bases across the Kingdom, aligning with the objectives of the Pilgrim Experience Program (PEP) and the National Civil Aviation Strategy. These initiatives aim to enhance accessibility to the Two Holy Mosques and position national air carriers to connect the Kingdom with 250 international destinations, attract 330 million passengers, and welcome 100 million tourists annually by 2030.
Bander Almohanna, CEO and Managing Director of flynas, emphasized that the decision to establish the new base and introduce additional routes responds to the heightened demand for travel to Madinah, particularly from pilgrims and visitors to the holy mosque. He revealed plans for unveiling more destinations in the future.
Almohanna highlighted the achievement of operating 10 routes from the new base, attributing it to the significant upscaling of flynas' all-Airbus fleet by over 100% in less than two years. This expansion aligns with the carrier's growth strategy initiated last year and solidified through an agreement with Airbus for 30 new A320neo Family aircraft in June, as part of a larger order for 120 A320neo, with the total aircraft orders reaching 250.
Currently connecting over 70 domestic and international destinations with more than 1500 weekly flights, flynas aims to reach 165 destinations in line with the ambitious goals outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030. Since its inception in 2007, flynas has flown over 60 million passengers, marking its continued commitment to enhancing connectivity and contributing to the Kingdom's vision for the future.
