Riyadh, March 13, 2025 — In a significant moment for Saudi sports, the General Assembly of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC) has unanimously re-elected Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal as the president for the 2024-2028 term. The election was conducted during the 28th General Assembly meeting, held yesterday at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Olympic Complex in Riyadh, where assembly members gathered to discuss and endorse key decisions for the future of Saudi sports.

In his remarks following the election, Prince Abdulaziz expressed profound gratitude to the leadership of the Kingdom for their unwavering and limitless support of the nation’s sports sector. He emphasized that this support is vital in advancing the Kingdom’s ambitions in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to position Saudi Arabia as a global leader in sports and other key sectors. He noted that the continuous backing from the leadership has been instrumental in creating a robust sports infrastructure, fostering local talent, and elevating Saudi Arabia’s international standing in various sporting arenas.

Prince Abdulaziz also conveyed his appreciation to the SOPC members and their leadership for their hard work and dedication during the previous Olympic cycle. His message, delivered on his behalf by SOPC Vice President Prince Fahd bin Jalawi, highlighted the importance of collaboration within the organization to ensure continued progress in the Kingdom's sporting achievements.

In addition to the election, the General Assembly approved a landmark financial support agreement aimed at further enhancing the development of Saudi sports. This agreement, which will provide much-needed resources to various sports federations, is expected to strengthen the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting its athletes and promoting a culture of excellence in sports. The financial backing will improve operational efficiency, increase coordination between relevant entities, and ensure that Saudi athletes have the resources they need to compete at the highest levels.

With Prince Abdulaziz’s re-election and the approval of the financial agreement, Saudi Arabia is poised to continue its rapid ascent in the global sports scene, with the SOPC focusing on sustainability, development, and international success in the years to come. The election marks a pivotal moment in the Kingdom's sporting history as it continues to align its ambitions with the overarching objectives of Vision 2030.
