Foreign ambassadors and families explore AlUla's archaeological sites in exclusive visit

AlUla, December 21, 2023, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized an exclusive visit for accredited ambassadors of foreign countries and their families to explore the AlUla Governorate and its captivating archaeological sites. The visit, led by Abdulmajeed Al-Smari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Protocol Affairs, aimed to provide diplomats with an enriching experience of the cultural and historical treasures in the region.

The distinguished ambassadors had the opportunity to tour the Hegra site, a significant historical landmark and the first in the Kingdom to be honored with a place on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. During the visit, they received detailed explanations about the Qasr Al-Bint and the Qasr al-Farid collections, gaining insights into the rich history and cultural significance of these archaeological wonders.

The itinerary also included a visit to the Maraya Theater, recognized as the world's largest building covered with mirrors. This architectural marvel adds a contemporary touch to the historical landscape of AlUla, offering a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

The carefully curated visit not only showcased the beauty of AlUla's archaeological sites but also provided diplomats and their families with a deeper understanding of the Kingdom's cultural heritage. As Saudi Arabia continues to open its doors to the world, such initiatives foster cultural exchange and strengthen diplomatic ties, allowing international representatives to appreciate the diverse facets of the country's history and development.
