Riyadh, April 30, 2024, During the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Special Meeting in Riyadh, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, contributed to a panel discussion titled "Middle East Under Stress." This session, moderated by author Thomas Friedman, featured discussions on pressing regional issues and solutions.
Prince Faisal joined Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan Ayman Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Sameh Shoukri, and Senior Fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Lynn Kuok in addressing critical matters affecting the Middle East.
In his remarks, Prince Faisal emphasized the pressing need for a ceasefire in Gaza to alleviate the suffering of its people. He advocated for the release of all hostages and stressed the importance of establishing a permanent ceasefire rather than a temporary one to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
The Minister also reiterated the Palestinian people's rights, including their right to self-determination, and emphasized that fulfilling these rights would pave the way for resolving longstanding conflicts and unlocking significant opportunities for progress and cooperation.
Prince Faisal's insights underscored the interconnectedness of peace, security, and economic development, highlighting the potential for positive transformations and sustainable growth in the Middle East through collaborative efforts and constructive dialogue.
