Riyadh, Aug 11, 2023, SPA -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's welcome of an announcement by the United Nations that it has completed transferring oil from the Floating Oil Storage and Offloading (FSO) Safer Tanker, estimated at 1.14 million barrels of crude oil.
The ministry reiterated the Kingdom's appreciation of the efforts of the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the UN team in solving the problem of Safer Tanker, voicing appreciation for the generous financial support of donor countries and the donation campaigns they launched to end the threat being posed by the oil tanker.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been among the first countries to extend financial grants through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) as part of its efforts with the international community in solving the Safer Tanker’s problem.
The ministry has also extended thanks to the Command of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen for its support to the operational plan for the transfer of oil from Safer Tanker successfully and efficiently.
