JEDDAH — Al-Ittihad, the reigning champions of the Saudi Arabian Pro League, has confirmed the absence of French striker Karim Benzema due to injury. In an official statement released on Monday, the club announced that Benzema has sustained a right thigh muscle injury and will undergo a seven-day treatment and rehabilitation program. Consequently, Benzema will miss three upcoming matches for his team across various competitions.
The French striker will be unavailable for Coach Nuno Santo's squad in the King's Cup match against Al-Kholoud scheduled for Tuesday, as well as the league match against Al-Fayha on Friday. Additionally, his participation in the highly anticipated league clash against Al-Ahli on October 6 remains uncertain pending further physical assessments.
Al-Ittihad is currently leading the Saudi Pro League with 18 points from seven matches, holding a one-point advantage over second-placed Al-Hilal.
