Future Minerals Forum to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, January 9-11

Riyadh, September 03, 2023, The third Future Minerals Forum (FMF) will be held from January 9–11, 2024, at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. FMF is a crucial forum for the super-region, which extends from Africa to West and Central Asia, bringing together business executives, financiers, decision-makers, and specialists to jointly create the future of the minerals industry. The third edition of FMF will provide an in-depth look at a variety of topics and pressing issues facing the global minerals industry, building on previous editions of FMF. These topics and issues include sustainability practices and standards, creating green and future mineral value chains, luring investment to the superregion, incorporating knowledge and technology in mining operations, and the contribution of the minerals industry to the growth of local economies and societies.

The third edition of FMF highlights the mining and minerals sector as a key tenet of Vision 2030, playing a significant role in the transition of the world to sustainable energy. Our dedication to promoting worldwide advancement in the minerals sector, particularly within the superregion, and supporting the use of technology for mining that is environmentally responsible It is urgent to create a clear plan and address the rising demand for crucial minerals required for the energy transition in light of the sector's problems. To achieve our ambitious energy transition targets, it is critical that we support stakeholder participation, decision-making, and dialogue, according to Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef.

The ministerial roundtable, which will take place on January 9 and include representatives from the world's mining ministries and other important stakeholders, such as non-governmental organizations, will continue to be a focal point of the annual Forum. The discussion of critical issues affecting the mining industry by these high-level representatives will pave the way for worldwide cooperation and collaboration.

On January 10–11, ministers, mining investment leaders, and a number of notable leaders and innovators from a cross-section of international minerals and mining corporations will gather for FMF's main activities.

These discussions will promote deep debate on market trends, financial decisions, and ethical business conduct. The signature of more than 60 agreements, including a big joint venture between Ma'aden and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), is one of the significant accomplishments of earlier FMF editions. The JV eventually became Manara Minerals, which offers investment options for mining assets globally and secures vital minerals necessary for Saudi Arabia's economic growth and the resilience of the global supply chain. In its most recent deal, Manara Minerals bought 10% of Vale's base metals. More than 250 speakers and 13,000 attendees attended FMF 2023. The event this year is positioned to expand on that success by encouraging more in-depth conversations and practical solutions for advancing the world's mining industry.
