GACA Releases July Report on Saudi Arabia’s Airport Performance
Riyadh, August 23, 2024 – The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has published its performance report for July, providing a comprehensive evaluation of Saudi Arabia’s domestic and international airports. This detailed report assesses airports against 11 key operational performance standards, aligning with GACA’s strategic objectives to enhance service quality and ensure a seamless experience for travelers.
The report highlights several top-performing airports across different categories based on annual passenger numbers. King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah emerged as the leader in the category for airports handling over 15 million passengers annually, achieving an impressive 82% compliance rate. King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh also performed well, with an 82% compliance rate, though King Abdulaziz International Airport outpaced it in meeting the standards.
In the category of international airports serving 5 to 15 million passengers annually, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam both secured a 91% compliance rate. Despite the parity in compliance, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport was recognized for exceeding King Fahd International Airport in meeting specific performance standards.
For airports with annual passenger numbers between 2 to 5 million, Abha International Airport topped the list with a perfect 100% compliance rate. King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Airport in Jizan also achieved a 100% compliance rate, but Abha International Airport led in the overall adherence to the standards.
In the category for airports handling fewer than 2 million passengers annually, Qaisumah International Airport achieved a 100% compliance rate, outshining competitors in average waiting times for departing and arriving flights. Similarly, Qurayyat Airport excelled in the fifth category of domestic airports, also attaining a 100% compliance rate and demonstrating superior performance in average waiting times.
GACA's performance assessment is based on 11 key performance indicators, which include passenger waiting times at check-in counters, baggage carousel efficiency, passport control, customs areas, and provisions for people with disabilities. These standards reflect international best practices and aim to continually improve the traveler experience across Saudi Arabia’s airports.
