Saudi Arabia Leads Regional Partnership with Central Asia

On April 22, 2025, GCC Assistant Secretary-General for Political and Negotiation Affairs Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Aluwaisheg emphasized Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in fostering cooperation between Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and Central Asian nations.

Speaking on the sidelines of a seminar at the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh, Dr. Aluwaisheg praised the Kingdom’s leadership in the inaugural GCC-Central Asia Summit, hosted in Jeddah, as a turning point for regional diplomacy.

The summit produced a comprehensive joint action plan, targeting cooperation in:

  • Politics, security, and economic development

  • Education, health, youth, sports, and cultural exchange

Even without direct land or sea links between the GCC and Central Asia, trade volume between the two regions has grown tenfold over the past eight years—with particular momentum in energy and infrastructure investments, two key sectors championed by Saudi Vision 2030.

This partnership demonstrates how Saudi Arabia, driven by its values of peace, progress, and mutual respect, is creating new global bridges—enhancing cultural diplomacy and laying the foundation for sustained regional growth and understanding.
